Cemetery information:- Morley Wesleyan Mission was established by Rev. William Shepstone in May 1829 as the 4th in the chain of missions stretching out from Wesleyville on a tributary of the Tyolomnqa River, to the amaTshomane at the kraal of Depa at Nomadolo, just east of the Mthatha River. The new mission was destroyed in a raid by Nqeto of the amaQwabe from Natal/Zululand on the amaTshomane in October 1829, following his raid on Faku’s amaPondo. A year later Shepstone re-established the mission at Wilo with the amaTshomane who had moved just west of the Mthatha River. In 1863 Morley Mission moved again to a site closer to Mqanduli town. (Mike Kenyon) In the old letter as pictured, there is reference to approximately 20 graves, although the author only managed to make out six of them.
