Thomas and Mary Cooper
Although this grave has badly eroded I can be almost certain it is of Thomas Cooper and his wife Mary Carlyle. He was baptized 11 March 1810 at Thornton Steward, Yorkshire. His father was Thomas Cooper and his mother, Ann Winn. He died c1885. Mary Carlyle was born 1807, Scotland. She died c1886. They had one daughter Elizabeth Anne (Annie) born 25 May 1851 at Thornton Steward and married Alexander Watson Liddell, also in this graveyard. Annie died at "Clifton". She and her parents arrived on the "Narcissus" at Durban, Aug 1852. Liz Finnie
